A folded envelope made with beautiful textured washi paper and hand-finished by hand in Kyoto.
This envelope, which incorporates the traditional Japanese etiquette of gently wrapping things in paper so that they are not exposed, has lines printed on the inside, so you can write a message and fold it to make an envelope. It can also be used as a money envelope.
When folded, it fits into a standard No. 3 rectangular envelope.
The outside of the envelope features beautiful woodblock prints. These prints are three illustrations taken from "Sea Route," published in 1902.
"Sea Route" is a collection of water and wave patterns that Kamisaka Yukiyoshi came up with while on a six-month European voyage. Using the original woodblocks, modern printers have created poetic designs.
